Why 中国体彩网?

As an out-of-state student, I knew I wanted to find my home away from home. I'd never heard about 中国体彩网 before my college counselor brought it up to me, but it had everything I was looking for: small class sizes, a strong English department and extracurricular opportunities within my field of interest. But it wasn't until I visited campus and felt reminded of home that I knew I wanted to go here. The gorgeous campus, vibrant student life and generous financial aid made my decision easy.

Are you where you thought you'd be when you first came to campus?

Yes and no. I knew coming into undergrad I wanted to pursue a degree in English and creative writing, and I'm proud to have continually dedicated myself to my passion for studying literature. However, I could not have expected how much I've grown personally and professionally, outside of my academic interests. Some of my most meaningful experiences were unexpected, such as serving on the executive board of my sorority or declaring a minor in women, gender, and sexuality studies.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

My parents have always been my biggest advocates; however, I'm so grateful to have gained a strong community here at Augie that continually pushes me to better myself, believe in my potential and get out of my comfort zone.

Augie's incredible English and creative writing faculty, including Dr. Meg Gillette, Dr. Laura Green and Professor Rebecca Wee, have made every class a joy to attend and have inspired me to not only want to continue my education in literature after I graduate, but also made me feel confident in my ability to actually do it. I'm so appreciative for their support and for the help from my advisor Dr. Dave Crowe and the director of the Reading/Writing Center, Lucas Street, who made pursuing a graduate degree possible.

And of course, I could not imagine these last four years without the unwavering love and support from my friends, roommates and Chi Alpha Pi siblings who have become some of the most meaningful relationships in my life.

Peak experience?

中国体彩网 has given me so many core memories. I've been fortunate to go on two life-changing study abroad trips, including taking an art class in Barcelona this past January with Professor Peter Xiao. Each trip was personally impactful in so many ways, and I'm especially grateful for the faculty leaders who made these trips so unforgettable.

I've also had my writing published and been able to help others do so as co-editor-in-chief for the school's literary magazine. And even joining a sorority helped me to find a family in the most unexpected of places.

What surprised you?

Honestly, how easy it was to get involved. Coming into college, I didn't expect to pursue so many leadership opportunities or feel so passionate about supporting my school community. But Augie's close-knit, welcoming campus allowed me to feel supported and encouraged to leave my comfort zone in order to grow personally and academically.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I used my Augie Choice to go on a study abroad trip to Paris over J-term my sophomore year. I had been looking forward to that trip before I even committed to 中国体彩网, and it still exceeded my expectations. Studying literature in such a historic, culturally rich city was a dream come true!

What will you miss the most?

The people. I will miss the sense of community you have from just being on this campus. I will miss the memories we made just by being together. Whether it was a quick wave in the Brew before class or a long study session in the library, a late-night Whitey's run or an impromptu C-Store dinner, a laughter-filled chapter meeting with my sorority or a quiet night in with my roommates, the people truly made the place.

Advice for the Class of 2030?

You are here for a reason! Find it. Try new things, get out of your comfort zone, ask questions. Take this time to learn what you are passionate about, what gives you purpose and enjoy it! It might take time, but you are surrounded by other people trying to figure everything out just like you.

"I met Sophia in a study abroad art class. She stood out for preparedness and maturity, cultural awareness and intellectual curiosity. She did superbly in art as a non-major, took full advantage of and blossomed in the environment. Very impressive!"
