The Barbara A. Roseman Center for Speech, Language, and Hearing is in Brodahl Hall, 761 34th St., Rock Island.

Parking is available behind the building in spaces reserved for clinic visitors.

Center staff offers speech-language and audiology services.

The Roseman Center is the on-campus internship site for undergraduate students majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders and students in the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program (MS-SLP).

The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at 中国体彩网 中国体彩网 is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard, #310, Rockville, MD 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.

Faculty and student interns provide assessment and intervention services to individuals of all ages who have a variety of communication disorders.

Speech-language services

The Speech and Language Clinic provides many communication services, including assessment and intervention for:

  • speech
  • language
  • fluency
  • voice disorders
  • tongue thrust
  • dialect variations
  • gender-affirming communication skills
  • language based reading and writing disabilities
  • social communication skills

In most instances, services are provided by student clinicians who are supervised by academic and clinical faculty members, all of whom have master's or doctoral degrees in speech-language pathology, hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and maintain a State of Illinois license in speech-language pathology.

Assessment and intervention services are obtained through self-referral or referral from a physician or another professional.

Cost and schedule

The fee for individual intervention for a 12-week fall or spring semester program led by student clinicians is $456. Most clients receive services two hours per week. Fees for group programs for a 12-week semester are $240. Fees for the summer session vary depending on format. Information about the summer clinic schedule and fees is available in April of each year.

Assessment services also are available in the areas of speech, language, and reading and writing.

Hearing services

The Audiology Clinic provides hearing services, including:

  • Hearing testing for all ages
  • Hearing aid evaluation and fitting (Widex, Signia, and Phonak brands)
  • Assessment of Auditory Processing Disorder
  • Newborn hearing screening
  • Fitting of hearing protection and custom earmolds
  • Assistive listening device demonstration and dispensing
  • Aural rehabilitation
  • Tinnitus evaluation and management, including group educational sessions, individual counseling, and fitting of sound therapy devices
  • Neuromod Lenire tinnitus device fitting
  • Hyperacusis evaluation and management

We accept self-referrals and referrals from any healthcare provider including physicians and Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists.

All diagnostic, intervention, and counseling services are provided by academic and clinical faculty members, all of whom possess a professional degree, hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and maintain State of Illinois licensure in audiology. Dr. Ann Perreau is our Audiology Clinic coordinator as well as a licensed audiologist and lead researcher in tinnitus and hyperacusis.

Cost and hours

The fee for hearing services depends on the nature of the appointment. The clinic accepts Medicare and Illinois Medicaid ONLY if there is no Advantage Plan, MCO or supplemental insurance attached. Nations Hearing and Hearing Care Solutions insurance are also accepted. For private pay clients, we accept credit cards, cash, or checks. The Audiology Clinic operates year round with weekday hours.
