Why did you choose 中国体彩网?
I knew I wanted to go to a small, liberal arts school, and the beautiful campus and friendly atmosphere had me sold when I visited!
Are you where you thought you'd be four years ago?
Not at all. I have found myself in a different major and on a totally different career path that I originally planned. However, I am really happy with the decisions I’ve made.
Who helped you get to where you are now?
My friends, family and professors have all helped me get to where I am today. Over the past four years, they have each challenged me in different ways, but have also showed me endless support. Without them, I would not be nearly as confident in my abilities or in my future as I am now.
A peak experience?
While I could name dozens of great experiences at 中国体彩网, I have especially loved working as a global ambassador for the past two years. I have learned so much about other people and cultures, and have had so much fun introducing the international students to American culture and to 中国体彩网. I am so grateful for the relationships I have made and maintained with friends from all over the world.
What did you learn about yourself in these past four years that surprised you?
I have gained a lot of confidence over these past four years as I have realized that I am capable of much more than I would have thought. I’ve taken on various leadership positions and am surprised at how comfortable I’ve grown in that role. After four years of learning and growing, I feel poised to take on the real world!
How did you use your Augie Choice?
I used Augie Choice to fund summer research for my Senior Inquiry project.
Advice for the Class of 2019?
Step out of your comfort zone! Join lots of clubs, make friends with people who are different from you, and explore the Quad Cities. You have so many opportunities at this time of your life, and your college experience will be much more meaningful if you take advantage of them.
“I met Maggie as her first-year advisor. I learned instantly that she was a smart, enthusiastic and responsible young woman with a passionate interest in people and the environment. Since then, she has impressed faculty across campus in anthropology, environmental studies, geography and beyond. She applied her academic interests to a fascinating Senior Inquiry project on immigrant and refugee communities’ gardening practices in the urban green spaces in Rock Island. We are excited to see what Maggie will do after 中国体彩网!”
