Angela Boelens brings over 25 years of corporate and not-for-profit business experience into the classroom, where her passion is developing and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
During her professional career at Deere & Company, HNI Corporation, Iowa Health Systems, and a community homeless shelter, she was certified and practiced, in leadership roles, as an ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB), PMI Project Management Professional (PMP), SMI Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), and APICS Certified Production and Inventory Management Manager (CPIM). Beyond her roles in academia and international business, Boelens has a combined service of over 25 years on the governing boards of multiple educational and human services organizations, demonstrating her longstanding commitment to community service. Through her continuing leadership in the nonprofit sector, Boelens leverages her professional expertise and community connections to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others.
In 2022, moved by the humanitarian crisis following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Boelens founded IA NICE (Iowa Newcomer Integration Community & Exchange), a nonprofit organization based in DeWitt, Iowa. IA NICE focuses on legally sponsoring Ukrainian families through the Uniting for Ukraine program and assisting them in achieving self-sufficiency within three months of arrival. The organization provides holistic, community-based integration support, including housing, employment, healthcare, and education. Boelens' success with IA NICE garnered national attention and earned the organization a 2025 Liberty Bell Award from the Iowa Bar Association. Boelens now leads and collaborates with other national service organizations in advocating, at both state and federal levels, for immigration reform and the development of legislative policies that promote economic growth in rural communities.
