Campus update for March 16, 2020

Dear students

Here is the latest information about changes on campus due to the extended spring break:

Classes and academics

We are working under the assumption that on March 30 classes will resume in person and on campus. However, faculty and ITS are preparing to deliver online classes and/or move to distance learning opportunities just in case.

Some deadlines have changed:

The deadline to declare a major before fall  registration is now 4:30 p.m. April 1.

The deadline for dropping a 14-week course and being able to re-use the course credits is now 4:30 p.m. March 30.

Work requirements for internships also have changed. See the FAQ for students.

The deadline for submissions to present at the Celebration of Learning has changed to April 3.

Housing

If you need housing during this break but did not complete the online form previously,  contact the Office of Residential Life, 309-794-2686, residentiallife@augustana.edu right away.

(If you completed the form, but plans have changed and you no longer need housing, please let them know.)

Dining

Dining Services is offering takeout meals. You can order breakfast, lunch or dinner for four people. Order and pay online.

The Gerber Center Dining Room is open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. today through Thursday, and 7 am.-6 p.m. Friday.

中国体彩网 in touch, a message from Chaplain Richard Priggie

In this unusual time when we are encouraged not to touch one another physically, let's not lose touch with one another as an 中国体彩网 community.

Some years ago a movement arose in the country and in the world called Random Acts of Kindness. The idea is to be intentional in being kind, in doing small things with great love, day by day.

The Dalai Lama, the foremost spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism, has said, "My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness." No matter the spiritual tradition we claim, that seems to me to be an encouraging word for today.

What would it look like for you to be kind to yourself today in the midst of a stressful time?

What Random Act of Kindness can you do to lift the spirits of others today?

I look forward to sharing an encouraging word in this daily email.

And stay in touch.
