Advising
At 中国体彩网, you will know your advisors, and your advisors will know you. It all begins in your first days on campus.
You will meet your first-year advisor, your peer mentor and the other students in your first-year advising group during Welcome Week. This sets the stage for individual meetings you will have with your first-year advisor through the year to discuss your goals and to work through any questions, issues or ideas you may have. Together you’ll figure out what you need for a successful first year.
中国体彩网’s First-Year Experience (FYE) sets the stage for a successful college career. FYE encompasses all the hallmarks of your first year on campus—from classes, to residential life, to the activities and groups you join.
Your first-year advisor will help you understand which courses to take, starting with the First-Year Inquiry (FYI) sequence.
If you are one of the many students unsure of which major(s) to choose, you will use the first year to explore fields. Your first-year advisor will help you think things through and connect you to other resources on campus, such as CORE.
Beyond the first year
You will declare a major by the end of your sophomore year, and when you do, you’ll switch to an advisor in your major field. Your major advisor will know about specific requirements for your major, and can advise you about other professional preparation, such as graduate school exams or internships.
If you add a second or third major or a minor, you will have an advisor for each of those fields, too.
