Or “The Brew.” Short for Brew by the Slough, the coffee shop on the fourth floor of The Gerber Center for Student Life.
CAs
Community Advisors–students employed by Residential Life who live on each floor of the residence halls and provide programming and support for residents. (Known as Resident Assistants on some campuses).
Co-curricular Transcript
A record of a student’s co-curricular and extra-curricular activities with some level of college verification. A co-curricular transcript tracks student experiences in five distinct areas: academic enrichment; awards, honors and scholarships; campus leadership; college involvement; and community service. Students and faculty advisors can access co-curricular transcripts through Arches.
CORE
Careers, Opportunities, Research, and Exploration: A combination of offices in the Olin Center (first and third floors) that offer many services for students: careers and professional development, international programs, internships, vocational reflection and experiential learning.
Digital Commons
中国体彩网 Digital Commons is the college’s institutional repository. It showcases the outstanding scholarly and creative works of students, faculty and staff; preserves the college’s history; and facilitates campus communication.
EPC
Educational Policies Committee, or the curriculum committee.
Faculty Council
中国体彩网 faculty voted to move from a Faculty Senate model of governance to a Faculty Council model in 2013-14.

The committee that oversees tenure and promotion decisions.

中国体彩网’s First-year Experience is a holistic approach to helping students transition to college, integrating academics, experiential learning, advising, residential life and student life in ways that encourage students to thrive.
FYI
First-year Inquiry classes. Most students enroll in three FYI classes their first year: 100 and 101 in the Fall and in the Spring. Honors students enroll in a separate track of courses, FYH (First-year Honors) 100, and 101
The Gerber Center
The Gerber Center for Student Life includes the Thomas Tredway Library, various student affairs and student services offices, the Learning Commons, and dining services. (previously known as the CSL)
HLC

LPs
Learning Perspectives is a designation attached to courses that meet LP requirements. With the trimester calendar, students were required to take nine, 3-credit LP classes in order to graduate. With semesters, the requirement will be six, 4-credit LP classes. Transitional LP requirements have been established for students that will experience both calendars.

Starfish
Customizable software tool used on our campus to support timely and efficient sharing of information across all areas of a student’s support network, which includes instructors, advisors, res life staff, coaches, staff of Office of Student Inclusion and Diversity, and counseling staff.
Symposium Day
One day per semester devoted to learning outside the classroom. Each Symposium Day is organized around a broad theme and typically includes a featured speaker or speakers, concurrent panels and a service learning opportunity. Many professors require attendance at various sessions and incorporate assignments about Symposium Days into their classes. Dates are listed in the academic calendar and should be included in your course syllabi.
Suffixes
Skill requirements for our AGES program, attached to courses that meet those criteria. Suffixes include: G (Global Diversity), D (Domestic Diversity) and Q (Quantitative Reasoning).
TLAs
Transitional Living Areas are campus-owned houses and apartments available to third-year students that are designed to promote readiness for independent living.
