Summer internships immerse students in community

Summer internships are a key stepping stone for 中国体彩网 students, providing them with invaluable real-world experience and insights into their chosen fields.

From the ball field to the City of Moline’s stormwater division, the Vikings in our summer engagement videos are just a sampling of the impact 中国体彩网 students have on our region and beyond.

Madeline Grude '25

Madeline Grude '25 from New Lenox, Ill., spent her summer creating positive change with the City of Moline's Stormwater Division.

As a psychology and environmental studies major, Grude worked to improve residents' lives by clearing roads, understanding neighborhood floodwaters, and educating others about important environmental issues like lead pipes.

She credits CORE (Careers, Opportunities, Research, Exploration) for helping her find the perfect path to make an impact.

Kade Ariano '25

Kade Ariano '25 from Geneseo, Ill., took on the role of Game Day Operations intern at Modern Woodmen Park, home of the Quad Cities River Bandits, this summer! ?

From preparing the stadium for fans to gaining valuable communication skills, Ariano's internship gave him hands-on experience that will shape his future.

He's grateful for the connections with professors that led him to this incredible opportunity. 

Christiana Bourtzoni '25

Christiana Bourtzoni '25 from Greece, a biology and public health major, made a difference this summer as a cancer peer support intern at Gilda's Club Quad Cities.

She applied what she learned in the classroom to her work, helping others and gaining valuable insights.

This fall, Bourtzoni will continue at the Gilda’s Club creating her own programming focused on healthy diets.
