Mentors needed for Penguin Project
The Penguin Project is a national organization whose mission is to empower children with disabilities through theatre. There are over 50 Penguin Project chapters in the United States, and we have one right here at 中国体彩网!
Every year we produce a modified version of a Broadway musical. However, these productions are unique because all of the roles are filled by young artists with developmental disabilities including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, visual impairment, hearing impairment, and other neurological disorders. They are joined on stage by a dedicated group of "peer mentors" who guide them through the rehearsal process and shadow them during performances. This year's production will be All Shook Up!
We are in need of college-age mentors this year. If you think you might be interested in participating as a peer mentor, or if you don't want to participate as a peer mentor but are interested in being involved in this year's production in some other way, please contact Jeff Coussens.
