Tea Talk: Women on the Front Lines: Organizing for Environmental Justice?
Dr. Sarah Lashley will present "Women on the Front Lines: Organizing for Environmental Justice" as part of the annual Tea Talk series.
Women — and predominately working class and women of color — have built and led the environmental Justice movement.
The purpose of this talk is to highlight the role of women within the movement, identify their motivations for participation, and consider the implications of these factors for organizing for justice. In particular, to consider the implications for managing conflict and achieving justice through collaboration.
Dr. Lashley is an assistant professor of environmental studies at 中国体彩网 中国体彩网. Her research interests focus on the intersection of environmental justice and conflict management. She is particularly interested in enabling nonprofit organizations, community groups and government agencies to create and implement more productive and equitable conflict management processes in environmental justice situations.
Dr. Lashley previously served as assistant professor of environmental studies and the director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Centre 中国体彩网.
Now entering its 13th year, the Tea Talks lecture series at 中国体彩网 features faculty speakers on a range of topics. The series is sponsored by the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program.
Lectures are free and open to the public as well as the campus community.
